Shiniulan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Ding Wenjiang (1930, see 1947) proposed the Shiniulan Limestone. The type section is at Shiniulan, near Guanyinqiao, Qijiang County in southern Sichuan Province.
Synonym: (石牛栏组); Shihniulan Fm
Lithology and Thickness
Lower part (Qiaogou member), approximately 130 m in thickness, is characterized by interbeds of black calcareous shale with thin-bedded knotty limestone and limestone. Upper part (Shiniulan member), nearly 100 m thick, consists of gray knotty limestone and argillaceous limestone, occasionally with yellowish green pelite partings.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Shiniulan Fm rests conformably onto the underlying Nuchang Fm or the Longmaxi Fm.
Upper contact
The Shiniulan Fm rests conformably below the overlying Hanjiadian Fm
Regional extent
It is exposed in northern Guizhou Province and southern Sichuan Province.

Fossils
The main fossils are as follows: brachiopods Beitaia modica, Eospirifer songkanensis, Zygospiraella cf. duboisi, Isorthis, “Pentamerus” muchuanensis, etc.;trilobites Latiproetus, Encrinuroides, Songkania, etc.; anthozoa Zelophyllum, Amplexoides, Pycnactis, Ceriaster, Stauria, Codonophyllum, Tryplasma, Cystiphyllum, etc.; cephalopods Songkanoceras; chitinozoa Ancyrochitina brevicollis, conodonts Kockella ranuliformis and Pterospathodus posteritenui, etc.
